Diary Of An Awesome Friendly Kid
by Jeff Kinney

View in Library Catalog

This book was supposed to be all about Rowley, but Greg didn't like the idea so Rowley changed it to be about Greg and Rowley. The book take off on when and after Rowley moves to Greg's street. It started off to Rowley having no fiends and then Rowley's mom makes him read a book on how to make friends. And suggests Greg who is around the street and so off he went, Rowley arrives on Greg's resident. He says a knock-knock joke but Greg becomes confused. Fast forward he has a sleepover at Greg's and stays but, Rowley gets scared because Greg told him something Rodrick said to Greg, that outside there was a half man-half goat and then Rowley wets himself and had to go home. There are many humorous parts in this book. For example the part where Greg pretends he was a chicken, an egg appeared and Rowley actually believed him. And that wraps up my short book review.

A Buyer's Market
by Anthony Powell A Dance To The Music Of Time

I love this book and the whole series -- rereading it again for the third or fourth time. I suggested the first book, A Question of Upbringing, for my book club and people were not enthusiastic. I think you have to love literary style, and his in particular, to enjoy the books, and also you have to be familiar with British novels and history in the first three-quarters of the last century. But he is so subtle, witty and never mean, unlike so many of his contemporaries, and so candid about the faults and oddities of his novelistic stand-in, Nicholas and so acute about his friends and the people he observes, that every reading is a pleasure.

All The Weyrs Of Pern
by Anne Mccaffrey

How to spot a great book! A- the book moves you emotionally B- It's hard to put down, immerses you C- At then end, you need it to continue All the Weyrs of PERN meets ALL of these marks. It's high rating, Hugo nomination and months on the NY Times best seller list support that. I knew where it was going so I stopped reading 5 pages before the end. Maybe if I don't read it, it won't happen? ?? Well, I did it. I read the last 5 pages and, as expected, my eyes burned, my heart broke and I grieved with the people, dragons and fire lizards of PERN. I knew it was coming since this was my 5th time in this book, yet it slew me again. ?? I have a new goal added to my list of things I may never survive to accomplish - I want to write a story as moving as this one, to make people care as much for my characters. I want to reduce my readers to a blubbering mound of snot, like this one does even after reading it 5 times!

Who Is Muhammad Ali
by James Buckley Jr

Muhammad Ali was a man who truly inspired the world with his world famous quotes like, "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. His hands can't hit what his eyes can't see. Before then his name used to be Cassius Marcellus Clay. In America, in the 1940's and 50's exceptionally in the South black and white people did not mix. This was a problem back then, eventually in 54' Cassius rode a bike with his friend to the museum when his bike was stolen, there was a policeman in the building, he had said he would hit whoever was responsible. The officer was luckily a teacher for boxing and was happy to teach Cassius, as it was destiny. He was soon to discover that he would not only enjoy it, but that he was really good at it! Once in his career he even beat Sonny Lipton as he was the Heavyweight world champ! But that title was destined to belong to Muhammad Ali. And that is my short book review.
